We invite you to 'Touch the Sky!'
Experience our aircraft through the sense of touch. We offer curated tours for our Museum guests who are blind or low-vision. Specially trained Docents will take you right next to planes on exhibit to learn about aircraft shapes, lines, designs and features by touching airplane models and real aircraft in our collection. The Docent also tells the histories and provides visual descriptions of the artifacts on display in the gallery.
Docents will highlight a selection of the following aircraft:
- Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-15bis
- Canadair CL-13B Sabre Mk. 6
- McDonnell F-4C (F-110A) Phantom II
- Bell UH-1H Iroquois (Huey)
- Curtiss JN-4D Jenny Reproduction
- Goodyear FG-1D Corsair
Tour is recommended for ages 12 and up. Participants under age 14 are required to have a parent or guardian present.
At this time we are unable to provide tours for the Deaf-Blind, but we are working towards a solution.
Please Note: Tour participants are provided with and required to wear nitrile gloves for protection of the artifacts.
Tour Details
Tour Length: 90-minutes
Cost: Free with Museum Admission; Advance reservations are required.
Tour Group Size: There is a limit of six (6) tactile participant spots available for each tour. Support persons or family members are able to join the tour as well, but cannot participate in the tactile portion.
Tour recommended for age 12 and up. Participants under age 14 are required to have a parent or guardian present.
Availability:
Tours for the Blind are offered twice a month; once on a weekday and once on a weekend. If any of the listed dates and times below do not work for your schedule, please inquire and we'll do our very best to accomodate your request.

Tour Reservations
