What does it take to turn a childhood dream into something extraordinary?

As part of Solstice with Sasquatch, join astronaut Karen Nyberg and co-author Ann McCallum Staats for a special celebration of their picture book, A Quilt of Stars: Astronaut Karen Nyberg Stitches a Dream. In this interactive family program, Karen and Ann will bring Karen’s remarkable true story to life as they explore the dreams, goals and many steps that took her from a child imagining the stars to living and working aboard the International Space Station.

Children will be invited to join the conversation along the way, hear from A Quilt of Stars, and discover how Karen combined science, creativity and her love of making — even while living in space. Then it’s their turn to dream. Young explorers will create and decorate their own stars with a wish or goal for the future, inspired by Karen’s journey and the message of the book. The celebration will also include an opportunity to meet Karen and Ann and have books signed.
