About the Presenter
Dave McCampbell is a US Naval Academy graduate and career naval officer in Surface Warfare and the Special Operations/Diving and Salvage communities. As a senior Diving Officer, he worked with the US National Park Service to document Pacific World War II sites leading up to the fiftieth anniversary of the start of the War. After retirement he took up ocean cruising with his wife, Sherry, an accomplished sailor in her own right. Separately they have circumnavigated the Caribbean, and together spent six years crossing the Pacific, including 18 months in Micronesia. They are now in Southeast Asia and are 19 years into a planned world circumnavigation.
Dave’s special interest in Pacific World War II aviation stems from his famous WWII aviator father, Capt. David McCampbell, who is the US Navy’s top Ace and a Medal of Honor recipient.
