Nina Vichayapai is a Northwest artist who uses fabric as a language to reveal how surroundings embody humankind. She is now creating a large, fabric “cloud” sculpture to be a part of the Museum’s new museum-wide exhibition Art+Flight that opens on June 10, and the community is invited to be a part of the artwork.

Ahead of Earth Day, Vichayapai will be in the Museum's Main Lobby on Friday, April 21 inviting visitors to write their 'Wishes for the Earth' on special papers containing wildflower seeds that will later become part of the clouds in her sculpture. The handmade and environmentally-friendly "seed paper" will be provided.

The final cloud sculpture will be seeded with the wishes for the Earth contributed by many different people during several occasions throughout the exhibition.

After a time with the cloud sculpture, the wishes will be collected and buried and will grow into wildflowers critical in supporting our local ecosystem.
