Sally’s Day honors the enduring legacy of Sally Ride, the first American woman to fly in space. 

Celebrate Sally Ride with a day of family-friendly programming, including a fashion show featuring the finalists from this year's Spacesuit Design Contest! Headlining the event this year is Sarah Knights, who was Blue Origin’s New Shepard Astronaut Director, and is now supporting flight crew operations for Blue’s future lunar missions.

Sarah Knights – Astronaut Training: Tears, Fears, and the Final Frontier

Sarah Knights has been with the spaceflight company Blue Origin for over ten years. As the Astronaut Office Director for New Shepard, she built the training program for the first human flight and oversaw training for all 92 astronauts. She is now in flight crew operations for Blue’s lunar team that will train NASA astronauts for future lunar missions on Blue Moon’s Mark 2 lander. Knights will share her experiences working within the rapidly evolving commercial spaceflight business including New Shepard astronaut training, how Blue Origin was able to make jumps in accommodations to fly the first wheelchair user to space, and she will provide a look at the future of flight crew training.


Spacesuit Design Challenge Top 20 Fashion Show

The Top 20 Spacesuit designs in the Museum’s annual Spacesuit Design Challenge will be showcased in a space-glam fashion show. The top designs will be showcased at the Museum’s spectacular evening event, Fashion in Flight, on Nov. 7.
