Though space is most commonly associated with science and engineering, from the earliest days of the Space Race, artists have played an important role supporting the space program. Concept art inspired public interest and trust, and helped convince people that space exploration was worth the cost and the risk. In the United States, NASA and aerospace companies employed teams of artists to present idealized visions of a future in space.

Only a handful of these artists received public credit for their work, but their stories and careers are and multifaceted. Join the Museum's Adjunct Curator for Space History Geoff Nunn as he shares examples of space art from the museum’s archives and reveals the fascinating stories of the individuals who created them.
