Philip A Tibbs, son of Tuskegee Airman Howard Arthur Tibbs, recounts his father’s story as an African-American crew member and aviator during World War II using letters, music and photographs from his mother’s collection. These first-hand accounts tell the story of Howard Tibbs’ experiences during this challenging time in history.
Philip Tibbs is the third son of Howard Arthur & Betty (nee Clark) Tibbs. His father, Howard Tibbs, is the posthumous recipient of the US Congressional Gold Medal (Bronze Replica) awarded by the US Capitol in March 2007.
