Grand Opening for The MiG-21 Project World Premiere Art Exhibit June 21
June 21 is Opening Day for the world premier of The MiG-21 Project, a dazzling exhibit of South African artist Ralph Ziman’s 5-year, multidisciplinary project transforming a decommissioned Cold War-era, Soviet-designed MiG-21 fighter jet into a stunning work of art entirely covered in tens of millions of colorful glass beads. The re-imagined jet turns an icon of violence into a symbol of resilience and collaboration, and is the centerpiece of the exhibit, which also includes original Afrofuturistic flight suits and helmets, videos, photographs and artwork created for the Project.
Media Alert: June 18 Media Preview for The MiG-21 Project
A media preview for the Museum’s major world premiere art exhibition, The MiG-21 Project, will be Wednesday, June 18 at 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The exhibit opens Saturday, June 21.
Project artist Ralph Ziman and The MiG-21 Project team will be present for interviews and tours of the exhibit. The Museum’s exhibit team and Museum President/CEO Matt Hayes will also be at the preview.
