Flying Contraptions brings the excitement of aerospace to a STEM night or community festival. This drop-in style program program is designed to engage a wide variety of learners.
Using portable wind tunnels, families and participants over 5 years old can design and test different flying contraptions using basic household materials or use our pre-designed whirligig helicopters. Participants can investigate how changing design and materials can affect the flight of an object. This drop-in style program allows participants to engage to their comfort level and duration.
- Averages 60 participants per hour
- Minimum of 2 hours is required to run this program
NOTE: This program requires an indoor space with access to electricity and at least 4 tables provided by the host organization for participants to gather supplies, build and test.
Fee: $333/hour
As of October 1, 2025 all program fees include Washington State sales tax.
Please be prepared with alternate options if your preferred dates are full.
How soon can I make my reservation?
Programs must be requested at least two weeks prior to the date(s) you would like to reserve, but sooner is better.

What is your cancellation policy?
Cancellations made more than seven days in advance of the scheduled program date are eligible for a full refund. Cancellations made within seven days of the program date, including no-shows, are eligible for a refund minus a $50 administrative fee.
When is payment due?
Payment is due at least two weeks prior to your program date(s). Payment can be made over the phone by credit card (preferred) or purchase order (PO).
