Museum Partnership with Kent School District Puts Third Graders at the Front of the Class

June marks the end of the first year of the Museum of Flight’s on-going partnership with Kent School District (KSD) to develop Museum field trip experiences for KSD third-grade students. The 2025-2026 school year partnership has supported eight schools (25 classrooms), and plans are underway to accommodate nine to eighteen schools during the 2026-2027 academic year. Funded in-part by Boeing and 4Culture, the experiences are at no cost to the schools.

Museum Receives State Clean Energy Grant for Expansive Solar Power Installation

A new 3-acre rooftop solar power array will transform The Museum of Flight's environmental footprint. The Museum has been selected by the Washington State Department of Commerce for an award under the 2025 Clean Energy Grants to support the installation of a large‑scale solar power system on the 140,000‑square‑foot roof of the Museum’s Aviation Pavilion. The $1,237,323 award is funded through Washington’s Climate Commitment Act and represents approximately one-third of the $4.02 million project. Installation of the solar arrays and power system will begin in the fall.
