On March 21 author presents about World War II woman pilots,
woman Coast Guard pilot talks about her job

SEATTLE, March 13, 2015--Wrapping up the Museum's WomenFly three-day education event for young women, on March 21 two guest speakers will talk about women military flyers past and present. At 11 a.m., author Amy Nathan will lecture about her book detailing the World War II Women Airforce Service Pilot (WASP) program; following Nathan, at 12:30, is U.S. Coast Guard Lt. Cmdr. Kelly Deutermann, who will talk about her experiences as an active-duty helicopter pilot. The programs are free with admission to the Museum.

11 a.m. - Author Amy Nathan Lecture and Booksigning
Amy Nathan is the author of "Yankee Doodle Gals," her popular National Geographic book about the Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASPs) of World War II. She will talk about the WASPs and sign copies of he book. First published in 2001, the new paperback edition includes new photos and text about the Congressional Gold Medal the WASPs received in 2010. Nathan's books examine topics in both civil rights and American women's history.

12:30 a.m. - U.S. Coast Guard Lt. Cmdr. Kelly Deutermann Lecture
Lt. Cmdr. Kelly Deutermann is currently stationed at Coast Guard Sector Humboldt Bay, Calif., and is an instructor pilot in the MH-65C helicopter. She is responsible for training and mentoring junior pilots in the MH-65, and conducting search and rescue, and law enforcement missions, in one of the nation's most challenging operational areas - the Pacific Northwest.

Celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2015, the independent, non-profit Museum of Flight is one of the largest air and space museums in the world, serving more than 560,000 visitors annually. The Museum of Flight is located at 9404 E. Marginal Way S., Seattle, Exit 158 off Interstate 5 on Boeing Field halfway between downtown Seattle and Sea-Tac Airport. The Museum is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $20 for adults, $17 for seniors 65 and older, $17 for active military, $12 for youth 5 to 17, and free for children under 5.
