Young women students meet aerospace mentors

SEATTLE, March 10, 2015--On March 19-20 the Museum will host WomenFly, an annual, motivational event for young women interested in aviation and aerospace careers. Over 100 middle school and high school students from across the state will participate in inspirational and career-oriented workshops led by dozens of exceptional women working in aerospace-related fields. This year's special guests include U.S. Coast Guard Lt. Cmdr. Kelly Deutermann, and Jessica Cox, a renowned motivational speaker and the first armless pilot. The event's theme is "Saving the World Through Aviation."

WomenFly programs are March 19-20 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., March 19 programs are for young women in grades 6-8; March 20 programs are for grades 9-12.

Registration for WomenFly is open until filled. The $15 registration fee includes lunch and tee shirt. Financial assistance is available for travel and registration. It is possible to register as an individual or group:

Celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2015, the independent, non-profit Museum of Flight is one of the largest air and space museums in the world, serving more than 560,000 visitors annually. The Museum's collection includes more than 160 historically significant airplanes and spacecraft, from the first fighter plane (1914) to today's 787 Dreamliner. Attractions also include the original Boeing Company factory, and the world's only full-scale NASA Space Shuttle Trainer. The Museum of Flight is located at 9404 E. Marginal Way S., Seattle, Exit 158 off Interstate 5 on Boeing Field halfway between downtown Seattle and Sea-Tac Airport. The Museum is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $20 for adults, $17 for seniors 65 and older, $17 for active military, $12 for youth 5 to 17, and free for children under 5.
