STEM Back-to-School Day, Family Science Festival Aug. 23

SEATTLE, Aug. 15, 2014--Students and parents can preview their autumnal academic choices with the "STEM Back to School Day," Aug. 23, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event offers programs, workshops, and presentations about science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education. The programs will be dedicated to informing students - and especially their parents - about new STEM opportunities in education and careers. Parents will learn more about how to help their children develop their interests in these topics and help them make better choices about future careers in the sciences, space travel and aerospace.

Free school supplies and other educational toys will be distributed while supplies last. The event is free with admission to the Museum, and sponsored by the Honeywell Corporation. Honeywell employees (and up to four family members) receive free admission to the Museum on this day.

Family Science Fest
Also on Aug. 23 is the Family Science Fest. The Family Science Fest is run in conjunction with the 2014 Space Elevator Conference, which runs Aug. 22-24 at the Museum. The Science Fest includes Space Elevator 101 and 201 presentations, a youth robotics competition, exhibits from science organizations and clubs, and much more from the Museum's Education Office.
