SEATTLE, March 7, 2018--The Museum celebrates Pi Day with mathematician, speaker and author Eugenia Cheng, who will serve her recipes for math during a March 14 reception, lecture and book signing.
Cheng is the popular author of "How to Bake Pi: An Edible Exploration
of the Mathematics of Mathematics." Pie will be served at the reception.
Dr. Cheng has cooked the numbers on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,
and her book has followers from kitchens to classrooms around the
world. "How to Bake Pi" has been translated into eight languages.
The event begins with a one-hour reception at 5:30 p.m. The program is free for Museum members and $5 for nonmembers. Tickets are available online; space is limited.
Eugenia
Cheng is currently the Scientist in Residence at the School of the Art
Institute of Chicago, Honorary Fellow of the University of Sheffield and
Honorary Visiting Fellow of City University, London. Her job at the
School of the Art Institute of Chicago involves teaching high level
abstract mathematics to art students.
