Crew Compartment arrives aboard NASA's Super Guppy aircraft

 

SEATTLE, June 27, 2012

WHAT: 
 ShuttleFest: The Museum of Flight is welcoming the Space Shuttle Trainer Crew Compartment on Saturday, June 30, aboard NASA's Super Guppy aircraft. The Space Shuttle Trainer is the simulator on which every space shuttle astronaut has ever trained.
 
Museum of Flight President and CEO Doug King will be joined by Gov. Christine Gregoire, Congressman Jim McDermott, astronaut Bonnie Dunbar and Guppy Pilots and astronauts Greg Johnson and Janet Kavandi in addition to other local dignitaries to welcome the historic Space Shuttle Trainer, which will then be moved from the Super Guppy and transported across the street to its final resting place inside the Charles Simonyi Space Gallery. There are events planned throughout the day for the general public including a BBQ, rally, live performance from Sounders FC 'Sound Wave' marching band and other activities to commemorate this historic day. The astronauts will be on hand to sign autographs for Museum of Flight Members.
