New novel, "Night Witch," is tale of World War II Soviet women pilots

SEATTLE, May 19, 2015--On Oct. 31, Northwest author S.J. McCormack discusses her new book, "Night Witch," an historical novel about Soviet women pilots in World War II who flew nightly attack missions-sometimes in outdated biplanes-to harass and bomb German invaders. The book talk will take place at 12:30 p.m. in the Museum's Personal Courage Wing. Book signings follow her lecture. Copies of the book will be available for sale at the Museum Store. The event is free with admission to the Museum.

S.J. McCormack was drawn to flying and writing at an early age. Her first novel, "Night Witch," is the result of this union. McCormack has retired from teaching high school English, American literature and middle school language arts. She is also a Certified Flight Instructor. As a board member of the Pacific Northwest Writers Association she helps develop programs and co-directs the annual literary contest.

The Museum of Flight is located at 9404 E. Marginal Way S., Seattle, Exit 158 off Interstate 5 on Boeing Field halfway between downtown Seattle and Sea-Tac Airport. The Museum is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $20 for adults, $17 for seniors 65 and older, $17 for active military, $12 for youth 5 to 17, and free for children under 5.
