SEATTLE, July 8, 2009--The world-famous U.S. Navy Blue Angels flight demonstration team once again star in the KeyBank Air Show at Seafair presented by Boeing. The Museum of Flight is again Blue Angels' host venue during the team's entire Seafair stay. Blue Angels family activities will be featured all week, with events inside and outside of the Museum with extended hours Thursday July 30 through Saturday, August 1 from 10 a.m. - 9 p.m. All Museum programs are free with Museum admission.

Museum visitors will be able see the F/A-18 jets up close from Thursday, July 30 through Sunday, August 2. Activities include the team's precise pre-flight walkdowns, thrilling formation takeoffs and the chance to meet some of the Navy's finest pilots as they return from their practice sessions and show performances.

Fun for the kids. How did the Blue Angels get their name? Have any Blue Angels become astronauts? Find out the answers to these questions and many more during the Blue Angels scavenger hunt. Exchange your completed scavenger hunt form for a special prize!

The nimble and speedy A-4 that wowed audiences with the Blue Angels for 13 seasons bucked the trend that "bigger is better." The Museum's A-4 was built in 1967 and flew with the Navy in Southeast Asia. Active in Navy squadrons throughout the 1970s, the plane was transferred to the Blue Angels in 1980. This aircraft was often flown in the number 4 or "slot" position. When the Blue Angels fly in diamond formation, the slot flies directly behind the leader, surrounded on three sides by other aircraft.

The Museum of Flight is located at 9404 E. Marginal Way S., Seattle, Exit 158 off Interstate 5 between downtown Seattle and SeaTac Airport on Boeing Field. The Museum is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $14 for adults, $13 for seniors 65 and older, $10 for active military, $7.50 for youth 5 to 17, and free for children under 5.
