Museum Hosts Celebration of China National Aviation Corporation and American Volunteer Group Sept. 28

Legendary pilot Moon Fun Chin and historians to present

SEATTLE, Sept. 12, 2013--On Saturday, Sept. 28, the Museum will celebrate the history of aviation in China during the 1930s and 40s with lectures, book signings and more. The event's honorary guest is Chinese-American aviation pioneer Moon Fun Chin. Chin was born in 1913, became a commercial pilot in 1932, and moved to mainland China - and later to Taiwan - where he spent the next 50 years as a pilot and airline executive.

Also attending are best-selling author of "China's Wings" Gregory Crouch and authors Keith Lee and and Nancy Wright, who will present about Chinese aviation in the early 20th century. Special Tip-to-Tail Tours of key aircraft during this period of history will also be included in the day's events.

Schedule:
• 10:30 to 11 a.m.: Tip-to-Tail Tour of the Museum's P-40 with Museum Docent Dave Temby
• 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.: Panel discussion with author Keith Lee and Museum Docent Key Donn
• 12:15 to 1:30 p.m.: Luncheon for speakers and honored guests
• 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.: Tip-to-Tail Tour of the Museum's DC-2 provided by pilot and Museum volunteer Gene Vezzetti
• 2:30 to 4 p.m.: Panel discussion with honorary guest Moon Fun Chin and authors Nancy Wright and Gregory Crouch
• 4 to 5 p.m.: Book signing

The Museum of Flight is located at 9404 E. Marginal Way S., Seattle, Exit 158 off Interstate 5 on Boeing Field half-way between downtown Seattle and Sea-Tac Airport. The Museum is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $18 for adults, $15 for seniors 65 and older, $15 for active military, $10 for youth 5 to 17, and free for children under 5. Group rates are available. Admission on the first Thursday of the month is free from 5 to 9 p.m. courtesy of Wells Fargo. McCormick & Schmick's Wings Café is on site.
