Welcome to The Museum of Flight (TMOF). On this web site, you will be able to explore one of the nation's leading Air and Space museums with the largest K-12 educational program of any such museum in the nation. The TMOF is accredited by the American Association of Museums (AAM), is a designated Smithsonian Affiliate, and is certified by the American Camp Association.

You will find an opportunity to "dream, discover, and soar" through multiple air and space galleries, an external airpark, our restoration center, the famous original Boeing Red Barn manufacturing building, our library and archives, and our many educational facilities. Whether you are interested in the original Wright Brothers history, military aviation, Alaskan Bush Pilots, the first air mail pilots, gliders, commercial aviation, general aviation, the first rockets and the astronauts who flew to the moon, aerospace history, or the people involved in both, the Museum has something to offer you.

Since 1965, the museum, a private non-profit museum, has endeavored to become the "foremost educational air and space museum in the world".  It is our mission to preserve history, but it includes a larger responsibility to educate our citizenry and to inspire the next generation. As a result we endeavor to design our exhibits to be interesting and interactive in many ways, from in depth written history to hands on flight simulators. While our history is international in scope, we also focus on the personal achievements of many citizens of the Northwest. Without the personal contributions of thousand of individuals, there would be no "air and space history" as we know it. On most week-ends, you can also enjoy a special program with well known speakers and authors.  (Members have special opportunities to visit with our guest panelists and lecturers)

Since the Museum is located on an active airfield, the King County International Airport, halfway between Seattle and the SEATAC International Airport, visitors experience an "airshow" every day. Whether it is a bi-plane giving rides to museum visitors, general aviation, personal business jets, military jets, helicopters, the Navy Blue Angels, or new aircraft being tested on the field, there never is a dull moment.

So take a day off, alone or with your family, tour the museum, fly a simulator, have lunch in our Wings Cafe, walk through the Concorde, or just sit on the patio and watch the airplanes. Dream, Discover, Soar.
