The Museum of Flight depends on the generosity of individuals, corporations and foundations to exist. Fully tax-deductible gifts and corporate matching gifts can be focused on any of the following areas:
Education
The Museum annually serves 80,000 Washington State school children through 28 different instructor-led programs that help build interest and understanding math, science, and technology. Individual programs can be sponsored for as little as $5,000. Every gift, no matter what size, directly supports Museum programs serving local schools.
Restoration
Annually, the Museum acquires 2-4 new air or space craft and has ongoing restorations of an additional 12 major historical artifacts. Contributions underwrite acquisitions and support restorations. Donors can choose to support a specific aircraft and receive periodic updates on its progress. Learn more about our Adopt-A-Plane Program.
Archives & Library
A world-class museum requires a substantial library and archive. Each year over 500 filmmakers, researchers, teachers and authors visit The Museum of Flight in search of original source material to further our collective knowledge and understanding of flight. Gifts here support the purchase of historically significant materials and the processing of existing collections so that they are accessible at the Museum and in some cases through the Internet.
Exhibits
The Museum currently has several exhibits that require constant updating, maintenance, and renovation. A gift to this area can be designated to support a specific exhibit or gallery. All funds donated here go directly toward exhibit expenses.
Endowment
With its $8 million annual budget, The Museum of Flight needs to build a $50 million endowment to support future growth. Endowment gifts ensure long-term support since only the annual earned income is used for operating expenses. The principle remains in a secure interest bearing account for as long as the Museum exists.
