Thanks to funds raised during our gala events, the Museum has been able to expand its educational mission, enrich the lives of countless students, deliver innovate STEM programs, and encourage our visitors to Dream, Discover, Soar!
In the past, Gala funds have been used to:
- Develop our one-of-a-kind Aviation Learning Center
- Reach new and underserved audiences by providing financial assistance to schools and youth groups to participate in our STEM-focused onsite and outreach education programs
- Upgrade our Distance Learning so that we can deliver our cutting-edge programs to students across the nation
- Enhance our portable planetarium programs with new inflatable domes, digital projectors, and state-of-the-art software
2009 Wings of Heroes Gala | Honoring the 40th Anniversary of the Legendary Apollo 11 Mission
On Saturday, June 13, 2009, The Museum of Flight's Wings of Heroes Gala raised $1.3 million in support of educational programs and projects at the Museum. The black-tie event honored the 40th anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission, with over 55 members of the Apollo 11 crew, including astronauts and mission control personnel.
