Royal Aeronautical Society Lecture: The New Boeing KC-46 Tanker

In this lecture sponsored by the Royal Aeronautical Society, Boeing engineer Dennis Egan will introduce the new KC-46 Tanker aircraft, which is currently in development for the United States Air Force. Egan is the Boeing Commercial Airplanes Air Vehicle Integrated Product Team leader and chief engineer for the KC-46 Tanker Program The design of the KC-46 is based upon the Boeing 767, and its development is well underway. Egan will provide an overview of the new tanker’s configuration, design and certification.

Dennis Egan has held a variety of Boeing executive positions including Director of Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) Technology, Deputy Program Manager for 787 Derivative Programs, and Director of BCA Payloads and Structures Engineering. Egan joined Boeing in 1985 as a stress analyst. He subsequently became a design engineer and served on special assignment on the 767 Freighter program as a systems engineer. In 1995, he entered management as a supervisor for the Landing Gear Design Center. Egan received a bachelor degree in political science from the University of Montana and a bachelor degree in engineering science from Montana Tech. He successfully completed an executive MBA program at the University of Washington in 2003.
