A Boeing B-17G used in the movie 1990 feature film, “Memphis Belle,” will be hosted at The Museum of Flight May 10-11 for rides and ground tours 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. In 1989 this Flying Fortress, now owned and operated by the Liberty Foundation, was one of several hired for use in the filming of the Memphis Belle movie in England. In July 1989 the plane crossed the Atlantic with The Museum of Flight’s B-17F to participate in the filming of the movie. Since returning to the U.S., the Liberty Foundation’s B-17 has continued to fly in the paint scheme of the "Memphis Belle" to honor veterans and preserve this aviation legacy. The Museum of Flight is the only place to see two of the “Memphis Belle” movie bombers at the same time.
“Memphis Belle” Movie Screening The feature film, “Memphis Belle” will be screened at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday May 10th, in the Museum’s theater, while the Liberty Foundation’s B-17 is on site. This screening will be free with paid daily admission to the Museum of Flight.
