"Stories of Courage" Program: WASP author Sarah Rickman

Sarah Rickman, author of "Lost WASP, Dorothy Scott."

Time: Saturday, August 23, 2014 - 2:00pm - 3:30pm

Event Type: Public Program

Location: William M. Allen Theater

This presentation by author Sarah Rickman will focus on the work of the Washington state Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASP) and how their stories enhanced the story of the WASP as a whole. A special treat will be a 10-minute documentary film about Oroville, Wash., native Dorothy Scott — one of the 38 WASP who died in service in World War II. Dorothy’s story has been lost to us since 1943, but Sarah has written her biography based on her letters home during the war. Dorothy’s biography, "Lost WASP, Dorothy Scott," will be released later this year. Sarah is a former journalist who now serves as a WASP historian and the editor of the WASP newsletter for the WASP Archives at Texas Woman’s University.
