Time: Sunday, November 10, 2013 - 11:00am
Event Type: Special Event
Location: Great Gallery
A large, bronze sculpture depicting a map of the U.S. Air Force Southeast Asia military theater of operations will be unveiled at the Vietnam War section of the Great Gallery during an 11 a.m. ceremony on Sunday, Nov. 10 (one day prior to Veterans Day). Museum Curator Dan Hagedorn will be the keynote speaker at the event.
The 8-foot-tall memorial features the locations of the American airbases used from 1959 to 1975, and is dedicated to the memory of U. S. Air Force Lt. Richard Christy, who was killed in action in 1972 over Vietnam while flying a Cessna O-2A "Skymaster" as a forward air controller.
The Museum's Cessna O-2A will be flown in from Everett, Wash. and will be on display all day in the Museum’s east parking lot.
This event is included with Museum admission, free for Museum members.
