Space Exploration Day Lecture: Astronaut Dr. Michael Barratt

Dr. Michael Reed Barratt was selected as a NASA astronaut in 2000. He flew on the Soyuz TMA-14 and served as a flight engineer on the International Space Station for Expeditions 19 and 20. His second spaceflight was STS-133, the final flight of Space Shuttle Discovery.

Dr. Barratt was born in Vancouver WA, grew up in Camas, WA and graduated from the University of Washington. His medical degree is from Northwestern University. Dr. Barratt currently manages the Human Research Program at NASA Johnson Space Center and is the senior editor of the textbook, Principles of Clinical Medicine for Space Flight.

Dr. Barratt will help the Museum of Flight commemorate the dual anniversaries of the first manned landing on the Moon, Apollo 11 (July 20, 1969) and the first robotic landing on Mars, Viking 1 (July 20, 1976).

This program is included with Museum admission and is Free for members of the Museum of Flight.
