"Journey to Space" opens May 23, astronaut Nick Patrick
guest speaker at May 15 preview event at Museum
SEATTLE, May 5, 2015--The new IMAX(R) documentary, "Journey to Space," makes its exclusive Northwest premiere at The Museum of Flight on May 23. The film recalls the glorious days of the space shuttle, reminds us that the space program did not die with the end of the shuttle flights in 2011, and vividly tells the exciting story of the next chapter of space exploration.
Through stunning imagery, "Journey To Space" showcases NASA's exciting plans for future spaceflight, especially for long missions to Mars. Viewers are led on this journey by narrator Patrick Stewart, and by young new astronauts that might someday walk on another planet. "Journey to Space" so closely compliments the Museum's Spaceflight Academy fun approach to shuttle history and future spaceflight, it will be screened throughout every day for a nominal admission of $2 general and $1 for Museum Members.

Film reviewers, aerospace writers and bloggers, and family attractions writers are invited to a special premiere screening of "Journey to Space" on May 15. Space shuttle astronaut Nick Patrick will be the guest speaker. The reception begins at 6 p.m., Patrick speaks at 6:30, movie screens at 6:45. The movie is 45-minutes in length. For those that cannot attend the May 15 event, the film will be shown for free at the Museum at 9 a.m. on May 6, 7, 12, 13 and 14. Celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2015, the independent, non-profit Museum of Flight is one of the largest air and space museums in the world, serving more than 560,000 visitors annually. The Museum's collection includes more than 160 historically significant airplanes and spacecraft, from the first fighter plane (1914) to today's 787 Dreamliner. Attractions also include the original Boeing Company factory, and the world's only full-scale NASA Space Shuttle Trainer. The Museum's aviation and space library and archives are the largest on the West Coast. More than 150,000 individuals are served annually by the Museum's on-site and outreach educational programs. The Museum of Flight is located at 9404 E. Marginal Way S., Seattle, Exit 158 off Interstate 5 on Boeing Field halfway between downtown Seattle and Sea-Tac Airport. The Museum is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $20 for adults, $17 for seniors 65 and older, $17 for active military, $12 for youth 5 to 17, and free for children under 5.
