Seafair airplanes, bands, food, beer, and family activities all weekend Aug. 1-2
Blue Angels
SEATTLE, July 22, 2015--The Museum celebrates Seafair weekend Aug. 1-2 with Jet Blast Bash, an all-day outdoor family festival right on the Blue Angels' flight line. In tune with the Museum's 1965 birthday, the festival is themed to the Sixties with a mix of the right food, cocktails, entertainment and AstroTurf. Visitors are encouraged to dress in Sixties-style. The McCormick and Schmick's beer garden and picnic ground is surrounded by historic Navy jets and fun family activities (including water blasting). The Bash is also simply the best place in town for the Blue Angels' thunderous takeoffs and dramatic landings.
Jet Blast Bash features Navy jets including the F9F Cougar, AV-8B Harrier, EA-6B Prowler and A-4 Skyhawk. A dozen military prop planes will be on hand, plus a frontline V-22 Osprey tiltrotor (if it does not get called for active duty during the weekend). Hot wheels are represented by the Air Force's Vapor super car, and the Elio future car. Games, trivia and other activities for children are on-going.
Inside of the Museum, legendary SR-71 Blackbird spyplane pilot Brian Shul delivers his remarkable story; and former Navy Top Gun instructor pilot Dave "Bio" Baranek will talk about living in the danger zone. Live coverage of the Seafair air show and boat races will be broadcast in the Museum theaters.
All events are free with admission to the Museum.
