The countdown has begun for a day of special exhibits, lectures and live launches celebrating model rocketry.

The Museum of flight, with the assistance of volunteers from the National Association of Rocketry, will present exhibitions of historic and current rocket designs, presentations by leaders in the field of model rocketry including Vern Estes, founder of Estes Industries, and live rocket launches next to the Museum's Airpark.

Want to join in the fun? Get a $5 ticket to the event which includes a model rocket for a parent/child team to build and launch.

King County Fire & Life Safety Association hosts the annual Kids' Safety Day at The Museum of Flight. Kids of all ages are welcome to view fire equipment on display and meet the men and women who serve them. Kids - and adults too! - will have the opportunity to climb aboard a fire engine, see how tall an aerial ladder extends, talk with firefighters and department personnel, and learn fire and life safety skills through fun activities.
