Leaders from Washington state’s Disaster Airlift Response Team (DART) will discuss how local aviation groups, volunteer pilots and aircraft owners will help with relief efforts during natural disasters. FEMA estimates that a major earthquake in the Northwest could devastate the normal transportation infrastructure, while the all-volunteer DART could play a vital role in rescues and the movement of emergency supplies, food and personnel using small aircraft and seaplanes. Washington’s DART managers Sky Terry, Alan Barnard and John Crooks will detail DART’s operations and how others can join the team.
