to Visit Museum Jan. 15

Museum tour includes afternoon inspection of Space Shuttle Trainer

 

 

SEATTLE, Jan. 11, 2013--On Jan. 15 at 12:30 p.m., NASA Administrator Charles Bolden will visit The Museum of Flight for informal meetings and an inspection of the Museum's new Space Shuttle Trainer exhibit at about 1:30 p.m. The visit will be open to media.

Bolden will first meet with Museum Trustees, Museum Space and Education Committees, the NASA Washington Aerospace Scholars Board, Michael P. Anderson Memorial Aerospace Program Committee, and NASA Space Grant Consortium members. Discussions will include the Museum's efforts in space exhibits and education.  Following the meetings Bolden will be joined by Aviation High School students for a tour of the Space Shuttle Trainer exhibit.

Bolden is a retired astronaut who underwent instruction in the Trainer before his NASA shuttle spaceflights. The last time Bolden was at the Museum was February 2011, about two months before he announced that NASA was awarding the Shuttle Trainer to the Museum.

The Museum of Flight is located at 9404 E. Marginal Way S., Seattle, Exit 158 off Interstate 5 on Boeing Field half-way between downtown Seattle and Sea-Tac Airport. The Museum is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is id="mce_marker"8 for adults, id="mce_marker"4 for seniors 65 and older, id="mce_marker"3 for active military, $9 for youth 5 to 17, and free for children under 5. Group rates are available. Admission on the first Thursday of the month is free from 5 to 9 p.m. courtesy of Wells Fargo. McCormick & Schmick's Wings Café is on site.
