Arrival at 9:30 a.m. to Museum parking lot, day of Museum activities with NASA and Museum staff planned for passengers

SEATTLE, Sept. 25 -- OnSaturday, Sept. 26, Delta Air Lines will charter a Boeing 737-800 from Minneapolis to Seattle's Museum of Flight. Delta's flight 8877, call sign - WING 1, is the airline's first-ever, all-girls charter flight titled, Women Inspiring our Next Generation (WING). WING 1 will be staffed with an all-female crew transporting more than 130 girls ages 12-18 years, to The Museum of Flight, where they will spend the day learning more about career opportunities in aviation and aerospace with mentors including astronaut Jeannette Epps. The aircraft will remain in the Museum's parking lot until a departure with the girls at 4 p.m.

Women in Aviation International has declared Sept. 26 as Girls in Aviation Day where participating women in WAI chapters around the world host their own one-day events to attract more young women to the aviation and aerospace communities with a day of activities appealing to girls ages eight to 16 years. The Museum of Flight will also be giving free airplane rides to 300 girls on Sept. 26-27 as part of the Museum's Flying it Forward program.

Schedule
The group will land at approximate 9:30am and will park in the Museum's main parking lot on the east side.
9:30 a.m. - Arrival at MoF
9:45 a.m. - Disembark and take photo under the aircraft
9:55 a.m. - Welcome by Reba Gilman, Vice-President of Education
10:15-11 a.m. - "Journey to Space" 3-D movie in William G. Allen Theater
11-11:50 a.m. - Free time in Museum
12:00-12:40 p.m. - All girls and chaperone head up to second floor of Museum for lunch
12:40-1 p.m. - Greeting by Melissa Edwards, Dir. of Digital Learning; presentation by astronaut Jeannette Epps
1-2 p.m. - NASA speed-mentoring activity with astronaut and other NASA mentors.
2-4 p.m. - Self tour through the Museum (NASA mentors will stay behind until 3pm if girls want to continue talking)
4 p.m. - All girls and chaperones assemble in the Museum's main lobby area and get ready to board plane.

The Museum of Flight is located at 9404 E. Marginal Way S., Seattle, Exit 158 off Interstate 5 on Boeing Field halfway between downtown Seattle and Sea-Tac Airport. The Museum is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $20 for adults, $17 for seniors 65 and older, $17 for active military, $12 for youth 5 to 17, and free for children under 5.
